Feltham does not all finish at five
A great deal of this town works at or around the airport, on a roster rather than a calendar. Being told the only slot is a weekday morning is being told to spend annual leave on being moved.
There is nothing technically difficult about moving somebody outside office hours. The van is the same, the crew is the same, the job is the same. What changes is whether a firm treats your availability as the awkward part of the booking or as the starting point of it.
We ask what your pattern is before we ask what you are moving, because the pattern decides everything else — when we load, when we can reasonably make noise, whether you will be awake at the other end, and whether somebody else needs a key.

Office hours are somebody else’s hours
A great deal of Feltham works at or around the airport, and airport work does not stop at five. A remover who only operates on weekday daytimes is asking you to take annual leave to be moved, which is a strange thing to have to do.

We start early or we finish late
Both are normal here rather than a premium exception. Tell us what your pattern is and we will work to it — an early start before a late shift, or a move that runs into the evening after an early one.

Weekends are not a surcharge
A Saturday or Sunday move is quoted the same way as any other. Charging extra for the only days a shift worker is reliably free is a way of charging people for their job.

Noise, and being reasonable about it
An early start in a terrace or a block has to be done quietly, and there is a limit to how early is fair on everybody else. We will tell you where that limit is rather than agreeing to something that gets you a complaint.

Short notice is normal, not an emergency
Tenancies end, postings change and landlords serve notice. We hold provisional dates at no cost precisely because this town’s moves are rarely settled far ahead.
If you cannot be there
Somebody has to be, and it does not have to be you
Back-to-back shifts happen. If you genuinely cannot be at either end, we will work to a nominated person — a partner, a housemate, a parent, an agent — as long as we have that in writing from you beforehand and they can be reached on the day.
What we will not do is take keys from a letterbox and let ourselves in, or hand your belongings to whoever happens to be standing in the hallway. Those are the two ways this goes wrong, and both are avoidable with one message before the move.
